Cal State Fullerton

21st Century Tuffy

2023

Created by 2-time Cal State Fullerton alum and former student-athlete, Jayce Smith.
The 21st Century Tuffy is subtly made up of Cal State Fullerton's acronym C.S.U.F. Where the ‘C’ sits at the tip of the trunk and the ‘S’ is created by the full length. The ‘U’ can be seen beneath the tusk and the ‘F’ is created by the trunk’s staff intersecting with the tusk.

Tuffy faces in the right direction to represent forward progression towards Titan excellence, while the trunk is in the upright position to symbolize stability and resilience; it also pay homage to Titan Athletics phrase #TusksUp. The shape of the ear resembles that of an Asian elephant, which represents the winning elephant during the original elephant races during the 1960s. Additionally, the angles used to create the ear are meant to compliment those of the primary “F” logo and secondary “TITANS” logo (8-degree slant).

The minimalistic and sleek one-color design allows for a bold statement that minimizes the room for error when it comes to applying the logo to garments and merchandise. The one-color approach will also sanction savings on production of items to be sold by Titan Shops, branded merchandise by marketing, and uniforms by the athletic department.
